The disciple, obedientto the directionof the angel,soughtouttheman who had but recently breathedout threateningsagainstallwho believedon the name of Jesus. He addressed him : "BrotherSaul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeareduntotheeintheway asthou camest,hath sentme , that thou mightestreceivethy sight and be filledwith the Holy Ghost; and immediatelytherefellfrom hiseyesas ithad beenscales, and he receivedsightforthwith,and aroseand was baptized." Christheregivesan exampleof hismanner of working for the salvationof men . He might have done allthiswork directlyfor Saul; but thiswas not inaccordancewithhisplan. His blessingswere to come through the agencies which he had ordained. Saul had something to do in confession to those whose destruction he had meditated; and God had a responsiblework for the men to do whom he had authorized to act in his stead . Saul becomes a learnerof the disciples. In the lightof the law he seeshimself a sinner. He sees that Jesus, whom in his ignorance he had consideredan impostor, is the authorand foundationof the religionof God's peoplefrom the days of Adam , and the finisherof the faith now so cleartohisenlightenedvision; thevindicator of the truth and the fulfillerof the prophecies. He had regardedJesus asmaking of no effectthe law of God ; but when his spiritualvisionwas touchedby the fingerof God ,he learnedthatChristwas theoriginatorof
