CONVERSION OF SAUL . 29 Saul in connectionwith hisrepresentativeson earth. The lightof heavenly illuminationdeprivedSaulofsight; but Jesus,thegreatHealer, did not at once restoreit. All blessingsflow from Christ,but he had now establisheda church ashisrepresentativeon earth,and toitbelonged the work of directingthe repentantsinnerin theway of life. The verymen whom Saul had purposedtodestroywere to be hisinstructorsin thereligionhe had despisedand persecuted. The faithof Saul was severelytestedduring thethreedaysof fastingand prayeratthehouse of Judas,in Damascus. He was totallyblind, and in utter darkness of mind as to what was requiredof him . He had been directedto go to Damascus , where it would be told him what he was to do. In his uncertaintyand distresshecriedearnestlytoGod . " And therewas a certain discipleat Damascus , named Ananias ; and to him saidthe Lord in a vision,Ananias . And he said,Behold,I am here, Lord. And the Lord saidunto him ,Arise,and go intothe streetwhich iscalledStraight, and inquirein the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus; for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seenin a visiona man named Ananiascoming in,and puttinghis hand on him,thathe might receivehissight."
