PaulsoughttoimpressuponhisCorinthianbrethrenthefactthathe himself,and theministersassociatedwithhim,wereonlymen ,commissionedofGod toteachthetruth; thattheywereindividuallyengagedinthesamework,whichwas giventhemby theirHeavenlyFather; and thattheywerealldependentupon him forthe successwhichattendedtheirlabors. " For whileone saith,I am ofPaul ; and another,I am ofApollos; areye notcarnal? Who thenisPaul,and who isApollos,butministersby whom ye believed,evenastheLordgave toeveryman ? I haveplanted,Apolloswatered; butGod gavetheincrease." The consciousnessofbeingGod'sservantshould inspiretheministerwithenergyand diligenceperseveringlytodischargehisduty,withan eyesingle tothegloryofhisMaster. God hasgiventoeach of hismessengershisdistinctivework ; and while thereisa diversityof gifts,allaretoblendharmoniouslyincarryingforwardthe greatwork of salvation.
