Here theapostlehas giventhe most successful manner ofconvertingsoulsfromignoranceand the darknessoferror,tothelightof truth. If ministerswouldfollowmore closelytheexampleofPaul inthisparticular,theywouldseegreatersuccess attendingtheirefforts. If allwho ministerinword and doctrine would make it their first business to be pureinheartand life,and toconnectthemselves closelywith Heaven, theirteachingwould have greaterpower to convictsouls. When Christwas upon earth,the Jews allover theland were notifiedto watch his movements , for theirreligionwas notsafewherehisinfluencewas felt. He was continuallyfollowedby spies,who caughtup everywordandactwhichtheycoulduse againsthim. Paulhad tomeet the same spiritof oppositionand blindprejudice. He brought his hearersdown throughthe types and shadows of the ceremoniallaw to Christ, to hiscrucifixion,hispriesthood, and the sanctuaryofhisministry, thegreatobjectthat had castitsshadowbackwardintotheJewishage. He , as the Messiah, was the Antitypeof allthe sacrificialofferings. The apostleshowed thataccordingtothepropheciesand theuniversalexpectationoftheJews,theMessiahwouldbeoftheline
