Thus Paul preachedtotheThessaloniansthree successiveSabbaths, reasoningwith them from theScriptures,upon thelife,death,and resurrectionofChrist. He showed them thattheexpесtationof the Jews with regardto the Messiah was not accordingtoprophecy,which had foretolda Saviourtocomeinhumilityand poverty, tobe rejected,despised,and slain. He declared that Christ would come a second timein power and greatglory,and establishhis kingdom upon theearth,subduing allauthority, and ruling over allnations. Paul was an Adventist;hepresentedtheimportanteventof the secondcoming of Christwith such power and reasoningthat a deep impression, which never wore away , was made upon the minds of the Thessalonians . They had strongfaithin the secondcoming ofChrist,and greatlyfearedthattheymightnot live to witness the event. Paul, however , did not give them the impressionthat Christ would come in theirday. He referredthem to coming events which must transpirebefore that time should arrive. Writing to them afterwards,he warned them thattheyshould " be notsoon shaken inmind ,or be troubled,neitherby spirit,norby word ,nor by letteras from us,as that the day of Christisathand.
