The deputy was convincedof the truth of the doctrinetaught by theapostles,and embracedthegospelof Christ. Elymas was not a man of education,yet he was peculiarlyfittedto do the work of Satan. Those who preach the truth of God will be obligedto meet the wilyfoeinmany different forms. Sometimesitisin the personoflearned, and oftenin thepersonof ignorant,men ,whom Satan has educated to be his successful instruments indeceivingsoulsand inworking iniquity. It isthe duty of the ministerof Christ to stand faithfullyat hispost,inthefearof God and in thepower of his strength. Thus he may putto confusionthehostsof Satan,and triumphin the name of the Lord . Paul and his company now continuedtheir journey,goingintoPerga,in Pamphylia. Their way was toilsome, they encounteredhardships and privations, and were besetby dangers on everyside, which intimidatedMark , who was unusedtohardships. As stillgreaterdifficulties were apprehended,he became disheartened, and refusedto go farther,just atthe time when his servicesweremostneeded. He accordinglyreturnedto Jerusaleın,and to thepeace and comfort of his home . Mark did not apostatizefrom the faithof Christianity;but, likemany young ministers, he shrankfrom hardships, and preferredthe comfortand safetyofhome tothetravels,labors,
