Those who beforedoubted,are convincedof their sincerity, as they thus seal their faith with theirblood. From themartyr'sashesspringsan abundant harvestfor the garner of God . Let no one feelthat becausehe isno longer ableto laboropenlyand activelyforGod and histruth,he has no serviceto render, no reward to secure. A true Christian is never laid aside. God willuse him effectuallyin healthand in sickness, in lifeand in death. It isin the darknessof affliction, bereavement, trial,and persecution, thatthe lightof Christianfaithshines brightest, and the Lord'spromisesare found most precious. And when thegravereceivesthe childof God ,he being dead yet speaketh. His works do followhim. The memory of hiswords of admonitionand encouragement,of hissteadfast adherence to the truth under all circumstances, speaksmore powerfullythan even his livingexample . Patienceas wellas couragehas itsvictories. Convertsmay be made by meeknessin trial,no lessthan by boldnessin enterprise. If Christianswould be reconciledto the apparentsuspensionof theirusefulness,and would cheerfully restfrom the strife, and layoffthe burden of labor,theywould learnsweetlessonsat thefeet of Jesus, and would see that their Master is usingthem as effectivelywhen theyseem tobe withdrawn from employment,as when in more active labor .
