His voicewas raisedin sternrebuke: " If ye be circumcised,Christshallprofityounothing." ThepartymaintainingthatChristianitywasvaluelesswithoutcircumcisionarrayedthemselvesagainstthe apostle, andhe had tomeet them ineverychurchwhichhe foundedorvisited; inJerusalem,Antioch,Galatia, Corinth,Ephesus,and Rome . God urgedhim out tothegreatwork ofpreachingChrist,and him crucified; circumcisionor uncircumcisionwas nothing. The Judaizingpartylookedupon Paul as an apostate,bent upon breakingdown thepartition wall which God had establishedbetween the Israelitesand the world. They visitedevery churchwhichhe had organized,creatingdivisions. Holdingthattheend wouldjustifythemeans,they circulatedfalsechargesagainstthe apostle,and endeavoredtobringhim intodisrepute. As Paul,in visitingthe churches,followedafterthesezealous and unscrupulousopposers, he met many who viewedhim withdistrust, and some who even despisedhislabors. These divisionsin regardto the ceremoniallaw, and the relativemerits of the differentministers teachingthedoctrineof Christ,causedtheapostle much anxietyand hard labor. In hisEpistleto theCorinthians,he thusaddressesthem on thelattersubject:- "Now I beseechyou, brethren,by thename of ourLord JesusChrist, thatye allspeakthe same thing,and thattherebe no divisionsamong you; butthatye beperfectlyjoinedtogetherinthesame mind andinthesamejudgment.
