Dr. Franklin B. Hahn (1810–1862): The Physician Who Financed the Sanctuary Light
Dr. Franklin B. Hahn stands in early Adventist history as an indispensable noble pioneer. A respected medical doctor of Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York, Dr. Hahn converted to the Millerite Advent message in 1843 and became a pillar of faith during the 1844 awakening.

The October 23, 1844 Cornfield Walk
On the morning of October 23, 1844 — the day following the Great Disappointment — Dr. Franklin B. Hahn and O. R. L. Crosier walked together with Hiram Edson across Edson's cornfield to encourage the weeping believers.
As they walked, Hiram Edson was stopped in the middle of the field by an overwhelming impression from the Holy Spirit. He looked up and saw by faith that instead of coming to the earth on October 22, 1844, Jesus Christ our High Priest had for the first time entered the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary to begin the investigative judgment before His return to earth!
Edson shared this revelation with Dr. Hahn and Crosier. Dr. Hahn's heart burned within him. He declared:
"This is exactly what we need! The Lord has opened the light!"
Publishing *The Day-Dawn* & *The Day-Star Extra* (1846)
Dr. Hahn immediately offered his medical income and personal resources to print this sanctuary truth. In 1845, Dr. Hahn and Crosier published The Day-Dawn in Canandaigua, NY.
In early 1846, Dr. Hahn and Hiram Edson paid the costs to publish Crosier's full theological study, The Law of Moses, in Enoch Jacobs' Day-Star Extra (February 7, 1846).
When Ellen G. White read the Extra, God gave her a vision confirming that the light published by Crosier, Dr. Hahn, and Edson was direct divine truth:
“I feel fully authorized by the Lord, to recommend that Extra, to every saint.”
