Paul had ever exalted the divine law . He had presentedbeforethe peopletheirgreat sin in transgressingitsprecepts,and theirduty to repentofsuchtransgression. He had showed them thattherewas in law no power to save them from thepenaltyof disobedience. While they shouldrepentof theirsins, and humble themselvesbeforeGod , whose holy law they had broken,and whosejustwrath theyhad thus incurred, they must exercisefaith in the blood of Christastheironlyground ofpardon. The Son of God died as theirsacrifice, and ascended to Heaven to stand as their advocate before the Father. By repentanceand faiththeymight be freedfrom thecondemnationof sin,and through thegrace of Christbe enabledhenceforthto render obedience to the law of God . But The apostlecontinued: "And now , behold, I go bound in thespirituntoJerusalem,notknowing the things that shallbefallme there, save that the Holy Ghost witnessethin every city, saying that bonds and afflictionsabideme . none of thesethingsmove me , neithercount I my lifedearuntomyself,so that I might finish my coursewithjoy,and theministry,whichI have receivedof the Lord Jesus,to testifythe gospel of thegraceof God .
