Arthur Grosvenor Daniells

Resume of Apostasy

Arthur Grosvenor Daniells served as General Conference President from 1901 to 1922 — the longest tenure in GC history — and is the primary human architect of the corporate apostasy of April 15, 1904.

Daniells was born on September 28, 1858, in Iowa; this archive presently gives Lyman, Iowa, while some public summaries vary on the exact locality. His father is described in biographical sources as a Union Army surgeon, but his parents’ full names are not yet verified here. His wife was Mary Ellen Hoyt Daniells. His children’s names are not verified in the current archive. Daniells had limited formal schooling compared with later administrators, including about a year at Battle Creek College, and his real training came through evangelistic labor, mission service, and administration in Australia and New Zealand.

That story matters because Daniells did not arrive at 1904 as an outsider. He rose through the mission system, gained reform credibility, came to the presidency in the atmosphere of 1901, and then used that office to build the very corporate structure Ellen White warned against. His life reads as a warning: field training and reform language do not protect a man if he uses power to fasten the church to a new organization.

The 1904 Crime Against the Pioneer Faith

On April 15, 1904, Daniells signed the Articles of Incorporation forming the General Conference Corporation of Seventh-day Adventists in the District of Columbia — the “new organization” Ellen White had specifically warned against in Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 204:

“A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced… Our religion would be changed.”

EGW had also written in Selected Messages, Book 2, p. 390:

“We cannot now enter into any new organization; for this would mean apostasy from the truth.”

Daniells ignored both warnings and proceeded to incorporate the Adventist movement as a 501(c)(3)-eligible federal corporation, permanently marrying the church to the state.

Catholic School Accreditation

One of Daniells’ most consequential — and least discussed — actions was his push to join government-regulated accreditation bodies for SDA schools. Under his administration:

SDA academies and colleges were brought under regional accreditation frameworks dominated by Catholic-influenced educational standards
Schools were required to adopt curriculum compatible with state and Roman educational systems, gradually replacing the true Protestant and health-reform education principles of the pioneers
Donors were told schools were Protestant — this was the beginning of what 144000.com calls “religious donation fraud”
Over 7,500 SDA schools worldwide now operate under this accreditation system, teaching the Trinity (Catholic Catechism #234), union of church and state doctrine, and ecumenical partnership theology — while fundraising as Protestant institutions

IRS Filing vs. Catholic Confession

The corporation Daniells created in 1904 was eventually recognized by the IRS in 1950 as a 501(c)(3) Protestant organization (X21 religious classification). Yet under his institutional successors, GC President Neal C. Wilson would later confess in federal court (1974) and in print (1981):

“There is another universal and truly Catholic organization, the Seventh-day Adventist Church.” — Adventist Review, March 5, 1981

Daniells laid the structural groundwork for this identity fraud. He built the house; others confirmed what it truly was.

Verdict

Arthur G. Daniells was not a pioneer — he was an apostate corporate executive who stole the name and heritage of the 1841–1850 pioneer movement, incorporated it as a government franchise, and initiated the Catholic educational accreditation system that silently transformed 7,500 “Protestant” schools into instruments of Babylonian doctrine.

EGW predicted it. He built it. His signature is on the charter.
